7″ Raspberry Pi System with Case and Stand

Now that the PSPi V4 kits are fairly well-stocked, I want to spend some time on small side projects. The first is a 7″ standalone Pi-powered system that I want to use at work and do some retro gaming during my lunch breaks.

I’ve worked on this a little bit over the last few weeks, and I have working prototype and a Thingiverse page (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2994975) for the case if you want to print it yourself.  Right now it’s pretty basic, and it’s just the LCD with a Raspberry Pi and my DPI topper attached. There’s no control buttons or speakers, and no smart power circuits so I’m just plugging a USB controller and USB power in to play and then unplugging it when I’m finished. I’ll probably add soft on/off next, and possibly add an amplifier and speaker later. It will possibly need buttons for volume control too.

The LCD is a beautiful and super-cheap one I got on AliExpress http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/brBQjFEg. Any of the ones linked in the 40-pin topper page will work, but this is the best by far.

This is all printed on my Monoprice Maker Ultimate https://amzn.to/2KEMEtg . It’s a really sturdy printer once you fix the minor things that Monoprice cut corners on.
