FBA or Final burn alpha uses a different key mapping than other emulators. I updated the config file for it and attached it to this post. Once this was done I was finally able to play metal slug using the fbapi emulator. just thought other mite find it useful. side note I had to add the .txt extension to the file to get it to upload. so remove that before coping it to the pi. for more info check out this link
