Hi,  I assembled my kit yesterday.  and everything worked fine  except for the up and left buttons

down, right, and the L button all work so i do not think the ribbon cable is bad.  Im at a little bit of a loss as how to go about diagnosing this...  I ordered a whole replacement contact pad/ribbon cable.  is there anything else i can check out while i wait for this to show up?

thanks for the help

I'm 99.9% sure it's because the joystick either isn't soldered up or is soldered up backward.

just resoldered the joystick and checked the wires.  same result.  could the joystick be bad?

wait a minute.   i just pulled the hot glue off the back of the joystick and the i was mistaken about which wire was hooked up to which pin

the y axis and + were switched.  i corrected it but it still seems to not be working

You should be getting somewhere around 2.6v on the X and Y pads when the joystick is in the neutral position and the system is powered on. Do you have a voltmeter to verify?

Ok those values are normal. Doesn't sound like the joystick is to blame. Try re-running the button configuration now that you fixed the switched wires. It's possible that the configs got broken because of the reversed wires.

If that doesn't work, try running the button configuration using the joystick instead of the d-pad. They use the same GPIO pins, so that will tell you whether it's the ribbon.
