Hi!

Newbie here. After stumbling through assembly of my pspi1000.3(extremely surprised when I actually managed to power it up:) I discovered that only the up and down on my d-pad is registered during input setup. My joystick is functioning fine. What could be wrong?

Hmm..that's a weird one. Were you able to complete the button configuration using the joystick, for all four directions? If you were, it sounds like an issue with the connection to the D-Pad ribbon.

Checked the ribbon. Looks lite it is connected. After testing the joystick and d-pad i found that left-right does not work at all on either. seems lik I can get a response from the left d-pad button if i press really hard on it, but it is intermittent. Wondering if the problem is with the psp?

Sounds like you might have the joystick wired up incorrectly or incompletely. The joystick is connected to the D-pad controls, so it will cause the buttons to work intermittently when it's not wired up.

It's also possible that the D-Pad is positioned underneath the LCD bracket, keeping the buttons from contacting. This one is less likely to be the cause.

I'm happy to look at the joystick wiring if you want to post a pic.
