I'm not making use of the PCIe at all, so yeah there are some possibilities. There are some space constraints, but electrically there are many things that could be added. I'm not sure what I will end up adding.

I do intend to make a more expensive carrier thats more universal and works with the clone CM4 boards, and maybe I'll add some different features to it.

Hi,

There would be a great solution for breaking out USB.

not sure if I could put AliExpress links in here. So I won’t. But if you search for „FFC Type-C micro mini USB“ you should find some tiny boards that have USB connectors on one side and on the other a clip for a flexible flat cable. There are two versions out there. One has a low pin count cable, the other a high PIN number cable. The advantage of the high PIN number cable is that you can use the same cable for connecting USB to USB or HDMI to HDMI. Wile the low pin cable is just for USB 2.0.

so in your board design if you would use the same pinout and connectors as those dirt cheap adapters, you would allow your users to connect male or female and cables with whatever length they need. And all you would need to do is adding a few FFC hinge connectors.
