Still a little new to raspi removed link What all would it entail to map the psp v3 buttons to be used with an ad card that boots KODI on startup?

It would work the same way. The retrogame software adafruit made emulateas keyboard presses when you hit a button, and it can be modified to press any key you want.
The way I configured it for the V3 should already work pretty well for Kodi
