I was wondering if with the probable advent of the CM5 for 2024 and PCIe support, it would be feasible to implement a PCIe connector for NVMe on the board to get rid of the unreliable micro SD, furthermore it wouldn't be a bad idea to implement a dedicated connector for a possible sub audio channel given that it is not possible to keep the umd reader, someone would like to be able to install a 44 mm driver on the back of the psp and create a 2.1 system.
A lot of that stuff is most likely possible. The CM4 carrier can be modified to add most of those features, assuming the CM5 (whenever it is released) is compatible with the CM4.
@othermod I am curious what it will take to run PSP games. Even overclocked it's only 333 mghz. The CM4 should be able to run PS2/GC correct? I don't want to buy and many others until we at least get PSP. What's it gonna take? Software? Hardware??
@square_enix PS2 will not run on the CM4, and I expect the same for GC. From what I'm seeing PS2 will run on the Pi5, and I hope the CM5 handles it well.
@othermod not to crush your candy (wallet) I'll do this upgrade when the CM5 comes out. Are you specifically going to modify it? I only assume the Mobo won't need a further upgrade.
