I am a bit confused if the carrier board is now a real GPIO or not. If it is it would be a great option to help other projects that are using Pi Zeros and struggle with RAM constrains but don’t want to go for a full scale Pi.

also in that case the more i/o from another topic here would be beneficial.

in that context it would then also be good to offer that Board also without a soldered pin header. That would give the full flexibility on how to use the board.

I am struggling with the zero 2 w. I used RPi imager to install Retropi on a 256gb SD card. I then put the sd card in the zero 2w. however, when I plug the pi into the pspi board in the psp, everything comes on but nothing shows up on the screen. I confirmed the screen is working and if I plug the pi in via usb and hdmi, it boots up just fine. Is there something I'm missing?

This is the first time I've ever seriously messed with a raspberry pi. Any help is appreciated.

What do you think the feasibility of supporting this project in the PSVita form factor in the future would be? I'm aware this was asked previously in https://othermod.com/forum/support-for-othermods-boards/how-viable-would-a-psvita-be/ but was curious if that philosophy had changed at all given the advances you've made over the years (plus the slimmer structure that the CM4/5 give over the old PiZero form factor). My main hope is to have a unit with dual joysticks as opposed to the single joystick of the original PSP (though the larger screen is a plus).

My other question is for the CM5 itself. The CM5 generates a lot more heat and uses slightly more power than the CM4. As such, an active (or much larger passive) cooler is advised for use. Is this feasible with the current system (or in a PSVita form factor)? Again I know this was touched on in https://othermod.com/forum/project-ideas/cm5-possible-upgrade/#post-1593

I'm just really curious as to all of this. I'm looking at trying out the PSPi project myself and would love to help out however I can (I'm just not a hardware engineer and very unfamiliar with designing this kind of project lol - also feel free to delete this if you feel it overlaps too much with other topics)

Hey there, I'm not asking for a feature request here but would just like to get an idea of the overall complexity of modifying the PCB design to be able to support the following:
* Touch Screen (for typing)
* USB ports (micro or otherwise)
* Access to GPIO pins. whether this just be a mini plug that requires a further breakout board to use is fine.

I've been looking at this project for years now as I've always wanted to create a portable hacking machine from a PSP for work and or play (I work as a cybersecurity consultant). However, this would require additional USB ports for things such as Network Adapters and bluetooth modules, a touch screen (for well...faster typing) and GPIO pins for interfacing with JTAG connectors and such.

What do you think the complexity off adding these features would be?

I believe the USB ports should be fairly easy, as there is plenty of documentation of breaking out USB from the CM4. and the GPIO I could incorporate a pretty simple connector and breakout board that attaches to the back of the PSP when needed. However, I'm not sure what is required to handle a touch screen?

Thanks in advance!

I don't want to be 'that guy', but I'm not sure where to turn next. I have built my pspi 6, and downloaded the Retropie file from you. Using RPi imager, I installed the .gz file to a 64GB SD and inserteted it into my Pi Zero 2w. The Retropie menu shows up and all the buttons work as expected. The only "folder" on the screen is the RetroPie config. I shut down the PSPi and open the SD on my laptop to add ROMs to their folders, but there are no folders. Additionally, the SD isn't expanding past the couple hundred MB.
I have re-imaged with Pi zero 2w and Pi3 as the pi devise - no change. I have let it sit for a good 30min with a new image - no change.
I feel like I'm missing a crucial step that is different from "just a standard Retropie setup" as I've never had this issue before. Any help would be appreciated.

Despite the setback, I want to thank you for a beautiful execution for this setup. The system looks amazing and the use of all the original buttons is wonderful!

Problem 1: in the guide it says the dual mosfet is used so the power switch will work without having to hold it up since it is a spring slide switch. i wired it up the same as the guide but for some reason the pi only stays on when i hold the power switch up. and when i let go, it turns off. So it seems i did something wrong with the N channel wiring? I did EXACTLY what is in the guide so i have no idea.

Prblem 2: the power/charge led is lit green all the time, whether if its off, charging, or on. and i dont understand why or how to fix that.

Did anyone run into either of these issues or know why its happening and/or how to fix them? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
